On a wall your oboe is off the floor, out of reach of pets and kids, and in sight instead of in a case. It hangs on a turned wooden peg, held by its own weight, nothing clamps and nothing touches the keys, and a rubber bumper at the tip keeps the inside of the bell off the hardware.
The plate mounts to a stud with two large steel screws, cut so the mount's felt pads meet the wall before the wood ever does.
